With spooky, Halloween events drawing closer, the Rome- Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority encourages people to register for the Harbin Clinic Zombie-thon, and is offering free ticket vouchers for “The Addams Family, A New Musical Comedy,” at the DeSoto Theatre on Broad Street for mile-marker registrants.
A proud sponsor of the Rome Little Theatre production that opens October 16 and runs through November 1, RFPRA will give ticket vouchers to the 25th, 50th, 100th, 150th, 200th, 250th, 300th, 350th, 400th and 450th persons who register for the Harbin Clinic Zombie-thon.
“We saw a great opportunity to team up with the Rome Little Theatre, since their show is going to be happening the same evening as Zombie-thon and the Harbin Clinic Apocalyptic Block Party,” said Betsy Hampson, a Zombie-thon event coordinator with RFPRA. “It was a no-brainer to reach out and make October the 24th packed with fun Halloween activities for the whole family.”
For the mile-marker registrants, the 25th person will receive one voucher and the 450th will receive three vouchers. The 50th – 400th registrants will each receive two ticket vouchers.
“We love working with our community partners, such as Harbin Clinic, the Downtown Development Authority and now, the Rome Little Theatre, which is such a great resource for arts and entertainment, locally,” said Lauren Jones, a Zombie-thon event coordinator with RFPRA.
“The Addams Family” show on October 24 will begin at 10 p.m. at the Historic DeSoto Theatre. Ticket vouchers may be used for that night’s performance, but are good for any performance while the production runs.
“This show has a definite ‘Broadway’ feel,” said Karen Bowling, director of “The Addams Family,” adding that her cast has been rehearsing steadily since July. “The acting, singing and dancing are all flowing together beautifully; people who have loved the TV show, the movies and the comics will have a blast watching this show – it’s hysterical.”
