In order to receive a guaranteed t-shirt, people interested in running or walking in the race must register by Noon on Wednesday, October 14. Those who want to participate as zombies or be members of the Harbin Clinic Outbreak Response Team must register by Noon on Tuesday, October 13. Online registration will close on October 22, but people can still register during Race Packet Pickup at the Harbin Clinic Vitality Center – located at 504 Redmond Rd. – on Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The race offers both a traditional 5K and a zombie-infested 5K experience, and pre-registration to run is $30. A 2-mile health walk option is also available, and pre-registration for the walk costs $25. For children 10 and younger, it’s $20 to run or walk. Registration for zombies is free, but if zombies want an event t-shirt, there’s a $15 fee. People can register online at http://rfpra.com/zombie_registration.html.
Groups of 10 or more may register for $25 per person and groups can me made of runners, walkers and children. A group representative must register the group in-person at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Headquarters located at 1 Shorter Ave. Registration forms are available at that location and can also be downloaded online.
Race-day registration will be $35 for runners, $30 for walkers and $25 for children 10 and younger. Festivities will begin at Bridgepoint Plaza at 3:30 p.m., where last-minute registrants can sign up. Pre-race festivities will include fun for kids and zombie face-painting to get event-goers in the Zombie Apocalyptic spirit.
A costume contest will be held during the event, with awards for Littlest Zombie (ages 5 and under); Youth Zombie (ages 6 to 17); Adult Zombie (ages 18 and older) and best Zombie Horde (group of up to 5). It’s free to enter the contest, and winners get prizes from participating downtown vendors.
The traditional 5K without zombies will begin at 5:30 p.m., the zombie-infested 5K will start at 5:40 p.m., and health-walkers will start at 5:42 p.m.
Harbin Clinic Apocalyptic Block Party
After race festivities wrap-up, the public is invited to the Harbin Clinic Apocalyptic Block Party on Broad Street featuring the Infinity Show Band and the Brooke Danielle Band. The party lasts from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Harbin Clinic Zombie-thon participants will have bracelets – provided by Parker Events – that will ensure discounts from participating downtown locations. “The Addams Family, a New Musical”
