Leprechaun-a-thon registration open, ongoing

FestiveAttireLocals are encouraged to get their green on and register for the Harbin Clinic Leprechaun-a-thon 5K and Health Walk that will be held on March 19th.

Race and Registration Details  

The fifth annual St. Patrick’s Day-inspired Race will kick off at 11:30 a.m. and Heath-Walkers will start at 11:40 a.m. The 5K is chip-timed and race awards will go to the first, second and third place males and females in all age groups, as well as the male and female masters and grand masters.

The Leprechaun-a-thon course starts at the Harbin Clinic Cancer Center, winds through Historic Downtown Rome, and ends at Barron Stadium. A 2 Mile Health Walk route is available for those who don’t want to run, but still want to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day event.

Pre-registration for the 5K costs $25 and pre-registration for the Health Walk is $20. Groups of 10 or more can register for $20 per person, in person at the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation office at 1 Shorter Ave.

Pre-registration closes on Friday, March 18th, and registration the day of the race is $30 for both the 5K and the Health Walk.

In order to secure a Leprechaun-a-thon t-shirt, participants must register by noon on February 26th. Race packet pick-up will be on Friday, March 18th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harbin Clinic Vitality Center located at 504 Redmond Road.

Costume Contest and Downtown Discounts

Keeping in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit, event-goers are encouraged to dress up in their wackiest green attire. Costume Contest categories are the Littlest Leprechaun (12 and younger), Most Festive Attire and the Luckiest Leprechaun (red beard, green suit and most mischievous grin).

Racers and Walkers will receive a Leprechaun-a-thon arm band in their race packets that will guarantee discounts and specials from participating Downtown businesses and restaurants.

Other St. Patty’s Day events downtown include the Ginger Pride Walk on March 19th at 11 a.m. The St. Petrick’s Day Parade, hosted by the Rome-Floyd Humane Society is scheduled for March 12th.

The Harbin Clinic Leprechaun-a-thon is the first installment in a series of annual 5K and Health Walks that benefits the programs and services of Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.
