Truck or Treat event offers safe trick-or-treating for families

On October 28th, families can spook their way to Ridge Ferry Park for a Halloween and Food Truck Frenzy at the first annual Truck or Treat event.

Presented by Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation in collaboration with Charbucks, the free event is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fun treats and Halloween spirit will haunt the park where food trucks and vendors will be set up as well as inflatables. Costume contests and prizes will make for a great event for families.truckortreatflyer

The night’s vendors are Charbucks, Speakcheesy, Sugar Rush, Lou Cora’s BBQ, Happy Daze T-shirts and possibly more.

“This is an opportunity for families to get out and have a great time together for Halloween, in a safe environment for trick-or-treating,” said Betsy Hampson, recreation manager for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.

Tristan Brock with Charbucks said after previous food truck events had such great turn outs, she and other food truck businesses wanted to offer Truck or Treat as a fun alternative to traditional Halloween trick-or-treating.

“It’s not always safe in some neighborhoods for kids and parents to go door-to-door at night, trick or treating,” Brock said. “This way, the whole family can come out and get involved. Kids can have fun in their Halloween costumes and the whole family can grab a bite to eat and celebrate the holiday in a safe environment.
