Sponsors needed for Downtown Candy Cane Hunt

On November 19th, hundreds of eager kids will flood the Town Green for candy canes and other sweets at the 4th annual Downtown Candy Cane Hunt, and event officials are reaching out to potential sponsors to make this year’s event even better than the last.

The Hunt, which is presented by Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation in collaboration with the Downtown Development Authority, is img_0302free and starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday during Rome’s Downtown Holiday Open House.

Last year, the Town Green was scattered with 10,000 candy canes provided by generous sponsors, but planners are hoping to increase the number of sponsors this year for the enjoyment of the kids.

“We had a really great turn out everyone had a blast last year,” said Lauren Jones Hillman, marketing coordinator at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation. “Traditionally, we have Santa do the countdown that kicks off the hunt, which is really excitinimg_0301g.”

This year, the Sweetfrogs will be present as well as the Chik fil A cow and possibly more local mascots, as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be a photo booth set up at the Town Green so kids and families can take their photo with a mascot before and after the Hunt.

“We encourage any business or organization who can donate to help us get some candy canes for these kids,” said Sarah Grimes, an RFPRD program Coordinator. “The Candy Cane Hunt is always so exciting and full of holiday cheer, and we want to make this one the best one to date.”

Those interested in sponsoring by donating $25, $50 or $100 can contact Grimes for more information at grimess@floydcountyga.org.
