Young ladies in glittering gowns with beautiful smiles will cross the stage and warmly greet crowds during the Miss Coosa Valley Challenger Pageants on October the 8th, and registration is open for the event for individuals with special needs.
Now in its fourth year, the Miss Coosa Valley Challenger Pageant series has become a hit throughout the community and highlights growing support for the special needs population. The proceeds from the pageant benefit Camp Goodtimes, a three-week summer camp for special needs individuals sponsored by Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.
“Parents approached us about providing a pageant for Special Needs young women,” said Wanda Witten, Coordinator for Coosa Valley Fair Pageants. “They love participating and get excited about receiving that recognition and of course a crown. It is a rewarding experience for the contestants, their families and everyone in attendance.”
The pageants will begin at 2 p.m. at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, and the entry fee for contestants is $25. Categories are Little Miss (ages 6-12), Junior Miss (ages 13 -16) and Miss (17 and older). The Just As I Am Choir will perform during the pageant and the very first Miss Coosa Valley Challenger, Hope Lance, will be Master of Ceremonies.
